I attended my second Woodstock, VA town council meeting a couple weeks ago.  I again addressed how the town they represent directly benefits financially from events like this. If contests didn't bring people to the fair, located in their town, those attending wouldn't also visit their stores. Mayor McCleary stated he fully supports the fair/pig scramble. In fact, he's had a child participate and "capture a pig". He said it educates children about agriculture. So disappointing. I haven't had anyone from the Shenandoah County Fair Board meet with me, so we could have a dialogue about replacing this with a fun animal free event.
