Petition updateSTOP THE SENSELESS SLAUGHTER OF RAYSTHE CRUELTY CONTINUES ...
Project Banjo Action Group
May 21, 2017
As shown by this footage of a live, mutilated banjo shark (aka fiddler ray) filmed on Saturday 20 May, 2017 at Rye Pier, Port Phillip Bay, Melbourne Australia, the cruelty against these animals continues almost daily: https://youtu.be/hQGZLolF55k Our campaign to ban the killing of rays in Port Phillip Bay is vitally important in ensuring both stronger regulations and stronger enforcement. Current offenders MUST be caught and fined or prosecuted and potential future offenders MUST be deterred. As a community, we must continue to speak LOUDLY and CLEARLY about this issue in order to #raysawareness that #enoughisenough. Here's another article tracking our progress so far: http://au.thescubanews.com/2017/05/10/time-to-raysawareness-in-melbournes-port-phillip-bay-of-rays/ While mid- to long-term solutions are currently being discussed and developed with the regulatory and recreational peak fishing bodies, short term interventions are also desperately needed. Please keep sharing these posts to keep the spotlight shining brightly on this problem until the necessary short, mid and long term solutions are in place. Thank you for your ongoing support of this campaign as we draw nearer to 30,000 signatures. #raysawareness #enoughisenough #bayofrays #raysneedlove2
