Today, the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act passed the U.S. House of Representatives, with a 220–208 vote. 

The bill now moves to the Senate, where it faces an uncertain future. Although Republicans hold a 53–47 majority, they would need 60 votes to overcome a filibuster.
