Officer Wiggins who is the liaison between the City and Animal Control will finally be meeting on Wednesday 7/19/23 to discuss my 4 pages proposal. As a reminder this proposal was distributed to Captain Gutierrez and Mayor Zimmerman. I have to reiterate the continuous support from Mayor Zimmerman. I do believe that without his continued support, the exposure to our concerns would have taken much longer.

Today 7/17/23, I added this additional information to my proposal that was originally sent 6/2/23:

Good morning Terrence and Mayor,
Hope all is well with you and that you are both staying cool.

As you set up the meeting with Animal Control this week, I wanted to add more scientific data to one of the very sensitive points in our community: Hobby breeders and backyard breeders.

This topic has been researched and the damages that it brings to a community is more severe than the 2-3 calls per month. As you have seen in my proposal, I have exponentially did a very quick analysis of how negatively this will impact our shelters, our city including a financial negative impact.

However there are also another topic that I did not discuss which is as equally important: Aggression.

Some breeds are more prone to show problem behavior than other breeds.

Yes, because there is a genetic component that poor breeders can’t deal with. Breeders should be more knowledgeable and never accept inadequate breeding generations.

The number of dogs' aggression, dog fights, dogs getting killed will only grow as we continue to allow these backyard breeders (BYB) to breed without understanding genetics and keep on selling dogs that are genetically inadequate. The topic of BYB is a lot deeper than what seems to be understood among the people in charge. This is a very deep, concerning and urgent issue that a city wants to stay ahead of.

Thank you of reading. As usual, if you have any questions kindly let me know.

Kind regards,

Thank you to everyone who signed and supported this petition. It's not over and we will continue to ensure that our City become a role model for our animals and the protection of our beloved dogs.
