As of Feb 2025 I have been getting great help from Erin Burrell over the last several months. She is commited to a walkable safe community that reduces the need for cars and gets our very fit and active Cottonwood Heights community mobile. We are an active bunch not doubt! We take pride in our fitness in our community and we deserve safe roads the allow for safe walking and bike lanes that dont coast tax payer millions. In any case, the roundabout IS STILL ON THE AGENDA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We are addressing the concerns of the fact there is NOT a leagal right going down/west on Bengal at 3500 E as well as the low visabilty of the 4 way intersection. They want to do a trial roundabout that will not disrupt the roads but I feel give them an inch and they take your home. I do understand the pros but I feel there are still more cons to a roundabout. I see the need for safety. Like speed bumps prior to the 4 way stop, adjusting the right turn and making it illegal to get in the lane in advance of a driveway. better blinking lights when a pedestrian is crossing. Bike lanes up and down Bengal that are seperate from cars (this will allow for better cycling and prevent them from Chipsealing the bike lane like they did (because they are worried about money-yet a round about?) More police enforcement. If it is such an issue why are there NO officers ticketing at the intersection?
We are working with Erin Burrel to make the other council see that there is no need for a large round about. We can't do that without community support. please make your voice heard and GO to the city meetings! They make a HUGE difference! Lets hear your ideas. It take a community to keep a community. I attend the meetings on-line and in person when ever I can. They are very informative and gives us insight to where our money goes. Don't wase money on chaging road infrastructure and on a side Note keep an eye on the Bank...they are trying to pass an excess of living/work space there. THERE IS NO NEED!!! Stop the greedy madness of the real estate investors that seem to be trying to run our town. Or are they running our town? Find out and learn at the meetings. Make your own informed educated decison.
