For over a decade, businesses have kept their food waste secret – stopping us from knowing how much food is wasted, and meaningfully tackling the problem. Now, a historic law could break the deadlock by making all businesses report their food waste publicly.
But the government disgracefully scrapped plans for this vital law, despite 99% of the public and the majority of businesses supporting it.
Now we’re fighting back. Our friends at Feedback have collaborated with Olivia Blake MP to get a motion tabled to save the food waste law – and thanks to over a thousand of you already contacting your MPs, a group of 28 MPs have already supported it – including from Labour, the Green Party, the SNP and the Lib Dems.
Will you ask your MP to join them? This is your last chance – you have until the end of this week! After that MPs, will no longer be able to sign the motion – so if you haven’t emailed your MP yet, please do!
The more MPs we get to sign the motion, the more chance we have of making businesses report their food waste.
