Hungry for solutions to food waste and poverty? Watch and share our final video and please spread the word on twitter! (Also on YouTube)

Overstretched food charities, which redistribute surplus food to people in need, have come together to say: us picking up the pieces of a broken system is not a sustainable solution to either food waste or poverty.

Nobody should have to rely on charities to survive in the sixth richest country in the world. And food shouldn’t be wasted in the first place.

So how can we make the government take responsibility to end hunger and food waste for good?

We’ve created three beautiful animated short films – this is the third and final film in our series where we lay out some systemic solutions to food waste and poverty, we hope you like it.

Watch our third and final film here (also on youtube)

Will you spread the word? Please share on facebook and twitter!

Are you inspired to fight for systemic solutions to food waste and poverty? Join the #PlentyToShare movement for more updates and opportunities to get involved – together we can win change. Over 40 organisations, including Greenpeace, Feeding Britain, Friends of the Earth, OLIO and IFAN (the UK’s second largest network of food banks) have signed up to our Declaration. These animations are part of helping us build a movement for change.

Want to take a deeper dive into why we want to go beyond food redistribution to systemic solutions to food waste and poverty? Read our recent blog for IFAN.

Over a quarter of a million of you have helped us challenge supermarkets to take action on food waste. But supermarkets are falling way short, and businesses are still mainly hiding their food waste – now, we need the government to step in with regulation. The government will soon be consulting on whether to make it compulsory for large food businesses to report their food waste – we’ll keep you updated on opportunities to raise pressure!

We want to thank everyone again who took part in our survey last year, which helped us develop these animations. We can’t do this without you.

Over and sprout,

Martin, Matt and the This Is Rubbish team
