Earlier this summer, the Alberta Government called a 6 month moratorium on all new renewable energy approvals in the province. We have reason to believe that our efforts (as well as other factors) contributed to this move by the government. Since TransAlta announced the Riplinger project in February of this year, we have clearly seen the major issues surrounding the approval process of renewable energy projects in the province. This week, as we witness the migratory season in this area, we are again shown how preposterous it is, that a project of this size and impact could even be considered in this area. Our steering committee had a meeting with an Alberta cabinet minister a number of weeks ago and have other important meetings coming up. Please continue to share this petition to garner support. We are glad that the Alberta government is listening to the people of this province and hope this will continue.
