Petitioners,
It’s been a while since our last update, but Yonge-Dundas Square’s chief renamer, Councillor Chris Moise, is once again making headlines - for all the wrong reasons.
Mr. Moise, the councillor most closely associated with erasing the historic Dundas name from a beloved Toronto square and TTC station, recently took issue with the author of this petition selling Yonge-Dundas Square T-shirts.
Apparently, in Moise’s world it’s acceptable to erase history, collude with activists, sidestep meaningful public consultation, and discard a piece of Toronto’s heritage. But when a concerned citizen seeks to reclaim that name, suddenly he discovers a moral compass. The hypocrisy is staggering.
You can read the full story in today’s Toronto Sun.
In this critical election year, it’s time to restore sanity and common sense at Toronto City Hall. The more than 35,000 citizens who signed the “Stop the Renaming of Dundas” petition will have a role to play in getting our city back on track.
