The ponds located on the old RO Golf Course drain into Colquitz and Normandy Creeks. Removing the land from it's present ALR status, for development purposes, would add even more burden onto these streams and the wildlife species they support. The resultant runoff from any development could be the final nail in the coffin for these creeks.
It's time to start petitioning the CRD Parks and CRD Farmland Trust (as well as Saanich Council) to aquire the land from the developers, preserving it in it's long term vision. Parks are a permitted non farm use use for ALR land, with the added bonus that it could be used for food security in the future.
