Hello,

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to sign this petition and share it with others.

Unfortunately, the Missoula City Council’s Public Works and Mobility Committee voted yesterday (10-2) in favor of a motion to direct city staff to proceed with their preferred concept for the Higgins Avenue Corridor Plan, which includes reducing motor vehicle traffic on Beartracks Bridge from 4 lanes to 2. Sandra Vasecka (Ward 6) and John Contos (Ward 5) were the two Council Members who voted against the motion. A copy of this petition with signatures was provided to the City Council via email prior to the meeting.

An article was published today in the Missoulian, which I feel included a very biased and derogatory representation of the people who expressed legitimate concerns and dissatisfaction with the City’s plan for the Higgins Corridor. I attended the meeting virtually.

The City Council will be voting on this issue again on Monday, February 6, and the matter will come before them again in a couple of weeks prior to the submittal of a federal grant application to secure funding for the project.

There is still an opportunity for public input on this issue, so I encourage you to stay engaged.

Erin Wyckman
