Watch Traffic Engineer presentation - "vehicles on the tracks, queue almost to railroad tracks"

CBEL is about to give us "concepts" for a semi-permanent plaza. Take some time to listen carefully (link below) to CBEL's Traffic Engineer explaining what she saw last May when our Village conducted a one-week pilot test closure of our critical slip-lane. She was not given the chance to answer the question "should we close the slip-lane?" Why wasn't she allowed to answer it after reviewing 2 weeks of recorded footage of our regular traffic flow? And now the same firm is going to tell us it's safe to close our lane for "dining season" with no additional study and no measure of how Sparrow Coffee will affect vehicle and pedestrian traffic levels? No. Her presentation gives zero confidence. It's now one year later. No further study has been done. Our village board should NOT be approving any such $1,160,000 plan unless they conduct a more comprehensive traffic study after Sparrow is up and running and prove its' safety and its' economic viability. Write to the board and ask them to vote NO on any plan that closes our slip lane because there is no existing proof of safety and no proof of resident support. There is only a large balance of funds in the TIF that they want to spend before this year ends. That is not good enough reason to approve this unsafe, unproven plan.
