Concepts presented at the Clarendon Hills Downtown Visioning Open House created some confusion, but two things were crystal clear. Residents overwhelmingly demanded that the slip-lane and traffic-triangle-roundabout be kept exactly as-is and that a parking garage/apartment complex right atop our train station parking lot would be a complete eyesore and isn't needed at all. Our current parking lot is available for shoppers and diners for FREE every day of the week from 11am to 11pm. FREE. Why would we spend millions on a plaza and a parking garage that nobody wants?
Many residents also asked to see the data from the survey and those requests at the Open House were met with blank stares and non-answers. While all voting was public with stickers on concept boards, secret voting on the slip-lane was taken at the meeting in flimsy boxes with counts at the end not being revealed publicly, even though a trustee had authorized a public count.
MUST ATTEND UPCOMING TBD Special Board Meeting for Downtown Plan Presentation to the Board of Trustees in March - Date TBD (likely 3/16). ALL HANDS MUST be on DECK at the Special Meeting!
Thanks to all who came out last night to the Open House!
