"How do we want to use our downtown?" Is the question that the Village now poses. A professional facilitator will help us answer this question alongside community members, business owners and the Village's Zoning, Design and Development boards. We would like for you to be involved, so we will keep you informed on next steps for this process, which will take a number of months to formulate and to conduct.
In the meantime, please keep your No Plaza yard signs displayed because, despite the fact that a plaza has been proven to be unsafe (with children climbing over the barriers and running into the street during events) and our businesses losing sales and "traffic backed-up almost to the train tracks" during the test closure, the plaza, while "paused" is STILL being considered by the Village in this facilitation exercise.
We will continue to advocate for our safe, proven and efficient vehicle and pedestrian passages in, through, over and around our train tracks/downtown and for convenient, storefront parking for shopping & dining.
ATTEND (104 Walker) Zoning Board meeting on Thursday, August 28 at 7pm at Village Hall if you have concerns about a hotel near our elementary school.
