The protest is to raise awareness in the community and oppose the Pilot Butte Conveyance Act.
WYOMING STATE GOVERNMENT is pushing forward with legislation that threatens to undermine the sovereignty of the Wind River Reservation. The land in question is protected by the 1863/1868 Fort Bridger Treaties. This effort to seize or control tribal lands that belongsto the Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho Tribes' cultural heritage, economic independence, and legal rights. The land in question has been protected through treaties and federal law, and any attempt by Wyoming to take it represents a clear violation of those agreements. Tribes have fought long and hard to maintain their land and autonomy, and now is the time for us to stand with them and demand that Wyoming respects tribal sovereignty and the law.
