Dear all,

However, I want to be very clear:
👉🏻 Signing the petition alone is not enough.

⚠️ Why this matters – Local schools are already under pressure
Local primary schools serving this development including:
- Rownhams Primary School
- Nursling Primary School
- North Baddesley Primary School
are already under pressure.
Official Hampshire County Council data for Reception (Year R) admissions shows that not all children are able to secure a place at their preferred school, with only 92.27% receiving their first choice, meaning some children are already being allocated alternative schools.
At secondary level, the situation is even more concerning:
- The Romsey School received 529 applications for only 248 places
- The Mountbatten School received 595 applications for 298 places
This clearly shows that local secondary schools are already heavily oversubscribed.
👉🏻 The addition of up to 230 new homes will bring a significant number of additional children into the area placing even greater pressure on schools that are already struggling to accommodate demand.

Planning Application: Land East of Broadleaf Park, Rownhams (Ref: 26/00695/OUTS)
I wish to OBJECT to this planning application for the following reasons:
1. Traffic and Access Concerns
The development will be accessed via Babey Avenue and Shutler Close, which are existing residential roads not designed to accommodate the level of traffic generated by up to 230 new homes.
2. Impact on Local Infrastructure
Local services such as GP surgeries, schools, and road networks are already under pressure and do not have the capacity to support this scale of development.
3. Flood Risk and Drainage
The site already experiences drainage issues, and development could increase flood risk both on and off site.
4. Loss of Countryside and Wildlife
This is a greenfield site with existing wildlife and nearby woodland.
5. Unsuitable Location
The site lies outside the settlement boundary and represents an encroachment into the countryside.
6. Impact on School Capacity
Local schools are already under significant pressure. Hampshire County Council data shows that not all children are able to secure a place at their preferred primary school, and local secondary schools such as The Romsey School and The Mountbatten School are heavily oversubscribed. This development will place further strain on already stretched education provision.
I respectfully request that this application is refused.

🙏🏻 Please act now
It only takes a few minutes to send an email, but it could make a real difference.
👉🏻 If even half of the 684 people who signed the petition send an objection, it will carry significant weight.
Please also share this with neighbours and friends who may not have submitted an objection yet.
Thank you again for your support we’ve built strong momentum, now we need to make sure our voices are formally heard.
Kind regards,
Steve
