After speaking up, organizing, and standing together, Greenspoon Marder LLP on behalf of Southeastern University has officially withdrawn the controversial 7-story, 600-bed dorm project that was planned near the Bill Gessner Sports Complex.
This proposal would have brought a massive development into the heart of our residential neighborhood, directly across from our homes and community field, raising serious concerns about traffic, safety, noise, pollution, and loss of privacy.

Every email, every post, every signature, every conversation, it all made a difference.
Residents spoke out loudly and consistently, and it worked.
⚠️ BUT THIS IS NOT OVER
While this is a HUGE win for our community, it may only be a temporary victory.
There has been no official explanation as to why the application was withdrawn, and there is no guarantee the project won’t return, possibly in a modified form or under different circumstances.
We must stay alert because:
- NSU can reapply at any time
- They may come back with a revised proposal
- Changes in decision-makers (including conflicts of interest like dual board roles) could impact future outcomes
