Stop the Noise -- Scottsdale

The Issue

We, the residents of Scottsdale and Phoenix, living in close proximity to BLK Live, located at 7301 E Butherus Dr, Scottsdale, AZ 85260, call for the Scottsdale Planning Commission and Scottsdale City Council to either revoke or substantially modify the stipulations of the Live Entertainment - Conditional Use Permit (CUP) for BLK Live.

BLK Live, an outdoor live concert venue, regularly disturbs the peace and quiet of neighborhoods in the surrounding area by playing live music outdoors up to several times a week until late into the night. The majority of the bands featured are playing hard rock, and the volume is intrusive, disruptive and annoying to residents living well over a mile away, preventing them from enjoying quiet evenings in their homes and backyards, disrupting children’s sleep, and threatening to lower our property values. An outdoor concert venue operating near an established residential neighborhood is incompatible with the resident’s rights of quiet enjoyment.

Per the City of Scottsdale’s Zoning Ordinance Sec. 1.400 Conditional Use Permits, BLK Live is in clear violation of section A which states, “Granting the CUP will not be materially detriment to the public health, safety or welfare. In reaching this conclusion, consideration shall include but not be limited to, the following factors: (1) Damage or nuisance arising from noise, smoke, odor, dust, vibration or illumination; (2) impact on surrounding area resulting from and unusual volume or character of traffic.”
