Update: Planning Decision Confirmed
Following the concerns raised by local residents regarding the proposed development at the former pub site, we have now been informed that the planning application has been approved.
Residents have raised a number of concerns throughout this process, including the potential impact on:
Traffic levels and road safety
Noise and disturbance, particularly given the surrounding residential area
Potential operating hours and the effect of increased activity
Litter management and the overall impact on local residents’ quality of life
While we acknowledge that the council has considered the application through the planning process, many residents remain concerned that the potential impacts on the surrounding community have not been sufficiently addressed.
Unfortunately, at this stage, it appears that there are limited further opportunities to challenge the approval. Residents must now focus on ensuring that the development is operated responsibly and that appropriate measures are put in place to minimise disruption to the local area.
This includes ensuring that:
Litter is properly managed and does not negatively impact surrounding streets and residents
Noise levels are appropriately controlled and do not unreasonably affect nearby homes
Cooking odours and other impacts are managed so they do not significantly affect residents’ daily lives
Increased traffic associated with the development does not adversely impact road safety, access, or the surrounding estate
Residents have the ability to continue monitoring the development and report any potential breaches of planning conditions or concerns to the relevant authorities. This applies both during the construction phase and once the site becomes operational.
The next step will be to contact McDonald’s directly to request that appropriate mitigation measures are implemented, including effective traffic management, litter control, noise reduction, and responsible operating practices.
If a meeting is arranged with McDonald’s, an update will be posted on this portal with any relevant information. Residents are also welcome to contact me via Facebook if they have any concerns, questions, or suggestions for matters that should be raised.
