One step forward, Two steps Back- TOWN MEETING NEXT TUESDAY

Hi all,

We atteneded the Taunton town planning meeting last night and the town council agreed that a Mcondalds is not correct in this location, and as such have formally objected to the application. I have taken this directly to the council and as such have been told along the lines off "This is not a permission to open a Mcdonalds, its to alter the exterior. The concerns you raise around proximity to a school, traffic, and suitability to the location are not matters that we can consider under this application." 

To me that suggests that they dont care and they are going to do it regardless of what our concerns are. There is a Somerset meeting regarding planning next Tuesday. However, there is a maximum of 5 people allowed and all questions must be presented before 5 pm today. For this reason please contact me on Facebook saying if you wish to come with questions ASAP. There is also no guarantee that we will be allowed to attend either.

Finally, they are also claiming that the information has reached the public correctly. I have reitarated the point that the only reason the public knows is due to our own efforts not the councils, they have also dismissed this. This Screams of bureacy red tape and what they say goes. It looks like we wont even get measures to mitigate.

I can only apologise for giving bad news on a Friday Morning. We will continue to fight for this.
