I hope everyone had a great bank holiday weekend.
So far, over 27,600 people have signed the petition - this is a tremendous number!! I have received extensive support from various people. Please ask your friends to continue to share the link to the petition on all social media platforms.
One person posed an insighful question: ask yourself, where does the traffic then go when it exits the Blackwall and Silvertown tunnels at rush hour. There has been no new road infrastructure projects to improve the flow of traffic after existing the tunnels. Where will the traffic jams begin after both tunnels become operational? How much pollution will stay within Greenwich Peninsula or Canning Town, Poplar and Bow? If tolls come into force, will drivers really see any improvement in commuting times for their increased expense? What improved pollution statistics will be produced if the traffic jams begin elsewhere?
The TfL consultation period ends on the 3rd September, and I aim to hand over the list of petition signatures at City Hall on the 2nd September.
