March 6, 2023 - Coastal communities and voters are being ignored! Almost 300,000 signatures! No comment from Gov. Murphy or Pres. Biden except to add even more turbines to the plan to industrialize our ocean! There have been 23 whale strandings and at least 6 dolphin stranding since December 2022. We know the increase in these deaths has been occurring since 2016. We know NOAA has issued many IHAs (incidental harassment authorization) permits to the offshore wind developers for use when they are doing the acoustic sea floor mapping using intense low frequency sound emission. Why would they apply for these permits that list the type of animal and the number they plan to "harass", which means injure, if there wasn't the possibility of these surveys hurting or killing our marine mammals? Why would the government approve those permits when the Endangered Species Act is in place to protect the endangered whales and its known that loud sounds will harm all whales and dolphins in the vicinity? Some scientists have found that sound waves can travel for hundreds of miles underwater.  Why is that not being accounted for when testing is happening?  Why would the government and the msm continue to put out the false narrative that there is no connection to the surveying and the Unique Mortality Event? We believe that the offshore wind industry acoustic mapping/surveying is the ONLY thing in the ocean that has changed. Definitive proof could be attained if all OSW activity stopped for a short period, 6 months perhaps and the dead and dying marine mammals stop washing up.  If all levels of necropsy are performed on all stranding animals we would hopefully gain more information. These reports are paid for with tax dollars and should be made available to the public!
