Greetings Signatories of the ‘Stop the Maangamizi!’ Petition and other Supporters of the ‘Stop the Maangamizi!: We Charge Genocide/Ecocide Campaign (SMWeCGEC)

We in the SMWeCGEC are pleased to report that OURSTORY keeps being made!

Yesterday saw the establishment of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on African Reparations (APPGAR) when it held its first AGM. The APPGAR is chaired by Bell Ribeiro-Addy MP.

This is something which we have been campaigning for over a number of years with campaigning tools such as our Stop The Maangamizi Postcard in which we advocated for an APPG on Afrikan Heritage Communities Legacies of Enslavement which we subsequently updated to the more appropriate proposal for an All-Party Parliamentary Group on Afrikan Reparations (APPGAR).

We are also pleased to report that we will be sharing the running of the secretariat for the APPGAR via our educational arm, the Maangamizi Educational Trust.

See this link for further info about the APPGAR AGM and the context setting speech made by Esther Stanford-Xosei, Chair of the Maangamizi Educational Trust and Coordinator-General of the SMWeCGEC.

We wish to thank all of those who contributed, in ways both big and small, to making this APPGAR get set up.

Until next time!
‘Stop the Maangamizi: We Charge Genocide/Ecocide! Campaign International Steering Committee Spearhead Team (ISC-SMWeCGEC)
