Greetings Signatories of the ‘Stop the Maangamizi!’ Petition and other Supporters of the ‘Stop the Maangamizi!: We Charge Genocide/Ecocide Campaign (SMWeCGEC)
We would like to invite you to the online London Mayoral Hustings that we in the SMWeCGEC, in partnership with the Afrikan Emancipation Day Reparations March Committee (AEDRMC) and the International Network of Scholars & Activists for Afrikan Reparations (INOSAAR), are co-organising on Monday 29th March 2021 from 6-8pm.
The theme for the hustings, which will be chaired by Professor Gus John is 'Representation Matters: Afrikan Heritage Communities challenge London mayoral candidates on who can best represent their interests'.
Please book via the eventbrite link below.
It is absolutely necessary that we do not just give our votes away to candidates who are not prepared to:
(1) engage with Afrikan Heritage Communities in a respectful manner; by respecting our right to define ourselves, assert who we as a people and how we wish to be recognised as such by those in wider society; and
(2) tell us how they intend to support our own self-determined glocal reparations solutions planning by facilitating the development of participatory democratic processes which enable Afrikan Heritage Communities to promote and advance our people's right to a remedy and holistic reparations.
A key question that must be posed to all Mayoral candidates seeking to get our votes this May is: where do you stand on the call for the establishment of the All-Party Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry for Truth & Reparatory Justice (APPCITARJ)?
Until next time!
‘Stop the Maangamizi: We Charge Genocide/Ecocide! Campaign International Steering Committee Spearhead Team (ISC-SMWeCGEC)
