Greetings Signatories of the ‘Stop the Maangamizi!’ Petition and other Supporters of the ‘Stop the Maangamizi!: We Charge Genocide/Ecocide Campaign (SMWeCGEC)

We have some exciting news demonstrating the influence the SMWeCGEC is building and ability to make reparatory justice relevant to the need to tackle by way of instituting measures of guarantees of non-repetition' as the first step to stopping, redressing and repairing the harms of the Maangamizi!

SMWeCGEC Co-Initiator Kofi Mawuli Klu is standing as an Independent candidate in the forthcoming European Parliamentary Elections starting on 23rd May 2019.

He is standing as part of the efforts of a group of political activists collectively known as the Climate and Ecological Emergency Truth Campaign, 'CEE the Truth' Campaign for short (#CEEtheTruth). The third demand of the #CEEtheTruth Campaign is for the institutionalisation of "National Citizen Assemblies on Climate & Ecological Justice must be instituted, including Planet Repairs embracing Reparations, and have a leading role in shaping a zero carbon Europe."

This is historic and links the struggles of Afrikan Heritage Communities against ecocide and genocide to effect and secure holistic reparatory justice with those who are engaging in non-violent direct action to avert Ecological and Climate Emergency; including the destruction of human life human culture and human possibility. Whilst Afrikans must retain their agency in compelling the reparatory justice changes we wish to see, the role of non-Afrikan allies in aligning with our cause, in so far as we can forge common interests of stopping the harms of ecocide, environmental crimes and harms as well as the defence of Mother Earth, are also key.
