As you may already be aware, the ‘Stop the Maangamizi: We Charge Genocide/Ecocide’ Petition (SMWCGE) is a campaigning tool for mobilising our people’s power to exert upon the British Houses of Parliament towards establishing the All-Party Commission For Truth & Reparatory Justice, and other actions necessary to advance the process of dialogue from the ground-upwards, with the British state and society on Reparatory Justice. However, the SMWCGE petition forms a companion project with the 1st August Emancipation Day Afrikan Reparations March Committee (AEDRMC). Accordingly, three of the five aims of the 1st August Afrikan Emancipation Day Reparations March include aspects relevant to and supportive of the SMWCGE petition. For example, the first three aims of the March are: 1. To draw attention to Afrikan peoples’ global determination to not let the British State and other perpetrators get away with the crimes of the Maangamizi (Afrikan hellacaust of chattel, colonial and neo-colonial enslavement). 2. To raise consciousness about the fact that all the attacks on us, in both individual and collective instances, amount to Genocide/Ecocide in Maangamizi continuity necessitating reparations. 3. To increase awareness of the necessity to ‘Stop the Maangamizi’ and its current manifestations such as austerity, attempts to recolonise Afrika, mentacide and deaths in police, psychiatric and prison custody. We are therefore sending you this Reparations March fundraising appeal in the hope that you will be able to support the appeal and/or circulate among your list of contacts. Ideally, the more people who mobilise and organise as part of the March social-movement building processes will also result in a greater pool of people we can draw on to help spread awareness of and take action on the SMWCGE petition.
