The Elections Canada website for Battle River - Crowfoot, Alberta is now reporting that as of today's date (July 16, 2025), 55 independents associated with the Longest Ballot Committee are confirmed candidates running in the bi-election on August 18, 2025. ALL of these people have been registered by the same person, Tomas Szuchewycz.

Elections Canada - Battle River - Crowfoot - Candidates List

A few of these candidates have provided a link to their 'candidate' website which can be found within each candidate listing, but don't expect to find any form of meaningful information. Some of the websites are nothing more than an image added to a page, one website doesn't work. A few of the so-called 'websites' are Youtube channels. The only legitimate websites to be found are those belonging to the legitimate candidates - The candidates who are running to represent the people of Battle River - Crowfoot, Alberta.

None of these independent candidates have the intention to win a seat and be a voice. The organizers suggest that this is an act to protest and push for electoral reform, but one which will accomplish nothing beyond causing disruption and making it difficult for electors to carry out their civic duty.

Our federal government has the ability to stop this nonsense, but to-date have turned a blind eye. A blind eye to the mockery that these bogus activities are making of our democratic process. A blind eye to the taxpayer expense that is used to create these large cumbersome ballots, to generate the number of extra ballot boxes that will be required once again to accommodate these large ballots that will serve no purpose other than to disrupt yet another election. To hiring and training staff in the handling of these special ballots, staff who will need to explain to electors, some of whom may be senior with visual difficulties or motor skill impairments who may require help in handling and navigating these ballots with so many foreign names.

We invite everyone to contact Elections Canada and voice your concerns about this matter. Elections Canada are obligated to respond to every canadian who has concerns about an election.
