The Issue

Why promote the killing of one, to help save another?

On October 17th, 2016 J. Render's restaurant in Lexington is holding a fund raising day for The Lexington Humane Society in which they will give 10% of their profits from this day selling dead animals as meat. It is being promoted not only by J. Render's, but by The Lexington Humane Society as well. J. Render's is a restaurant which is all about meat, especially BBQ pigs. So they will be killing and roasting many young pigs which are very much like dogs, as well as other animal parts to raise funds for the "Humane" Society. The Lexington Humane Society states that they have no formal affiliation with any State or National Humane Society agencies and that they are not this BBQ business, but rather just receiving 10% of their proceeds. Humane is defined as compassion for other people and animals. Clearly aiding a high-volume meat based restaurant business and the slaughter of animals can simply in no way be considered, humane.

The killing of one species and considering it, less than, to gain a small percentage of money to help save another is not only unethical and shameful but obviously very hypocritical as well. The Lexington Humane Society is in fact promoting this day long event on their facebook page and in other marketing sources, which is in fact promoting the mass slaughter of animals, rather than the humane treatment to animals. Help us to either get them to never align their fund raising efforts with such an inhumane, pro-kill business in a formal and legal promissory document to the public or legally change their name to something far less deceptive and misleading, ongoing.

Thank You!
