Thank you everyone for signing the petition! The time has come, Kurri Data Centre is officially under public exhibition. Now is our time to share our thoughts, make them hear our objections. If the proposal receives 100 objections, Airtrunk will have a very hard time moving forward. The proposal will be escalated to (I believe, correct me if I'm wrong) the Independent Planning Commission (or another government body, data centres do have unique laws designed to fast track them and remove red tape). This will force a review where our voices are heard and considered. (If I'm correct) it also forces a public hearing in which we can speak directly if we so choose. As of writing, we have 3155 signatures. 100 objections are nothing. I wouldn't be surprised if we lodge 500 objections!

We stand a better chance if you write with logic, facts, statistics, and professional language. For example

  • Don't say "It will use a lot of power", say "The data centre will increase state power demand by 5-10%, and power prices potentially by 10-20%"
  • Don't say "I hate data centres", say "There is immense pushback from Kurri and state residents. There is a petition against it with over 3000 signatures.:
  • Don't say "It is bad for the environment", say "It will produce immense noise pollution in excess of 80dB(A) on site, likely exposing nearby residents to noise in excess of 50dB(A)"

Write as little or as much as you want. Even a sentence helps our cause. Hit them with facts/statistics, and overwhelm them through sheer volume of outrage. Lets get it everyone, thanks for all your support :)
