DEXTER, PUTNAM, AND HAMBURG VOTE TO KILL MUTE SWANS

I'm sad to report this latest news, that more Michigan municipalities are going to kill their mute swans. Again, no one is asking the DNR for their Michigan based scientific studies. These elected officials are being used as pawns to do the DNR's killing. These municipalities need to hear from ALL OF US. Please contact them and tell them how awful this plan is and that the mute swans have been in the US since the 1800's, and will soon be extinct, not only in Michigan, but the entire United States. Their lack of judgement for not asking for the Michigan based studies and facts is inexcusable. Just because they may not like the swans doesn't give them the right to take them away from the people who enjoy seeing them on our 11,000 + Michigan lakes. Please write, call, whatever. We have to be their voice or they will all be slaughtered. By The way, the USDA goes out on these lakes in the early morning, from what I have been told, and shoots these unsuspecting birds in the head, not only the adults, but any first year babies and juveniles as well. It is a sick agency we have watching over our wildlife. And, oh by the way, according to the DNR Chief of Wildlife, Russ Mason, OUR TAX DOLLARS DO NOT FUND THE WILDLIFE DIVISION, HUNTER AND FISHERMAN DOLLARS DO. Politics and money are killing our wildlife. If an animal can't make the DNR money, they kill it. They are killing or have killed over 20,000 NATIVE Cormorants because they are eating the fish and the fishermen are complaining. Minnesota has already begun the process of having a hunting season on the trumpeter now that they have slaughtered their mute swans. Please speak up for these birds. Thank You! Also, an update on the West Bloomfield mute swan egg oiling issue. The Board did not like the oiling of the eggs plan. They thought it was cruel. They advised the lady from the lake association to ask the USDA if they would remove all the eggs from the nest but 1 or 2. This way the mama swan won't sit on the nest any longer than she needs to, and there won't be as many swan babies on the lake if they survive. She's suppose to come back in two weeks for the next meeting.
