We, animal  lovers are so sorry to hear about the distressing incident involving the use of a gusgun to put dogs to sleep in Sarawak. It's heartening to see that the community came together to rescue one dog and provide it with the necessary veterinary care. However, the fact that this was the only dog saved out of many is truly saddening.

The incident has rightfully sparked concern among animal lovers regarding the use of gusguns and the need for more proactive measures to address the issue of stray dogs. Many are questioning why funds were allocated towards purchasing gusguns instead of investing in programs for the Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) approach to managing stray dog populations. This method has been effective in addressing the issue in many places and is a more humane and sustainable way to manage the population.

Additionally, there are valid safety concerns regarding the use of gusguns, as the risk of accidentally harming or killing a passerby cannot be overlooked. The potential dangers associated with the use of gusguns raise serious questions about the prioritization of humane and safe methods for addressing the stray dog population.

It is evident that there is a need for a more compassionate and effective approach to animal population control in Sarawak. It is our hope that authorities will reconsider their methods and work towards implementing more humane and sustainable strategies, such as the TNR approach, to address the issue of stray dogs in the region. Every animal deserves to be treated with compassion and respect, and it is essential to work towards solutions that prioritize their well-being.
