Bruce Rauner put the Illiana Tollroad project on hold indefinitely, which also followed his appointment of an opponent of the project as chief of the Illinois Department of Transportation, the Indiana side of the project was also put on hold. While the project is not dead, this is a good sign that elected and planning officials who have sway over the project's future are being prudent enough to take a second look at this.
