As one of his first moves as Illinois' new Governor, Bruce Rauner issued an executive order halting all highway construction projects not yet underway to evaluate the costs before moving ahead. The Illiana is amongst them. While that is a good sign, as is the appointment of Randy Blankenthorn, former head of the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning and Illiana critic, this does not mean the Illiana is good and dead. This is indeed a better opportunity to voice opposition to the Illiana, because now opponents of the project have the Governor's ear.
