Although we came close to reaching a goal of 500 signatures (only 33 short), Gov. Rauner eventually did remove funding for the Illiana Tollroad from Illinois' budget. That said, this does not mean the Illiana is dead in the long-term. The signatures from this petition will still be sent to Gov. Rauner and IDOT Secretary Blankenhorn to remind them that this is an unpopular project that shouldn't be resurrected in the long-term. Even if funding becomes available the state will still have more pressing fiscal needs and social and environmental vigilance will still be a present need.
