Nearly 18,000 people who reportedly signed up through GTFOice.org may have had their personally identifiable information accessed in what appears to be a major security failure tied to the anti-ICE organizing platform.
Over the past week, many users have reported receiving aggressive text messages and emails containing personal details they submitted through the site, including names, phone numbers, zip codes, and email addresses. Multiple messages we have viewed say:
“Hi *****, Your email, phone number, location, and other information that you provided to GTFOice have been forwarded to the authorities, including FBI, HSI, and ICE. Miles Taylor and Xander Schultz are grifters and terrible coders, and should never have been hired for security anything”
GTFOice.org was promoted as a rapid response organizing network aimed at helping communities stop proposed Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention centers from opening. The site publicly described itself as “a collaboration between Save America Movement, DEFIANCE.org, and Project Salt Box.”
What remains unclear is exactly how much data was exposed, who accessed it, and why users still have not received meaningful public communication from the organizations behind the platform despite the seriousness of the situation.
