Petition updateStop the ICE Detention Center in Washington CountyWe’re Watching ICE’s Moves - From Minneapolis to Maryland
Hagerstown Rapid Response …Hagerstown, MD, United States
Feb 28, 2026

New reporting from Project Salt Box shows that the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is relocating roughly 100 vehicles from its Minneapolis operation to the warehouse property in Williamsport, Maryland - the same facility Washington County residents have been demanding transparency about.

Here’s what we know:

  • These vehicles are coming from Minneapolis, where months-long ICE enforcement - known as Operation Metro Surge - resulted in the detention of thousands and the deaths of multiple people during highly controversial enforcement actions.
  • The vehicles are being sent to the 16220 Wright Road facility, which the Department of Homeland Security bought earlier this year and is in the process of converting into a detention center with capacity for up to 1,500 people.
  • At the same time, unmarked ICE vehicles in Baltimore are also being shifted to unknown destinations - pointing to a broader operational build-up in Maryland.
  • This activity follows a federal push to nearly triple ICE’s detainee capacity in the Baltimore/Washington region - despite local opposition and emergency legislation blocking other facility plans nearby.

This is not a quiet logistics rearrangement - it’s evidence of an operational surge directly tied to the facility we’ve all been fighting to get information about.

We’ve been clear since day one:
📍 Our community deserves clear answers - not piecemeal updates or after-the-fact reports.
📍 We need disclosure of what’s going into this facility, who’s coordinating these movements, and what the real plan is for detention operations here in Maryland.

ICE moving reps, vehicles, and enforcement resources into the region - especially following major national criticism and deadly incidents - only deepens the urgency of our calls for transparency.

This is why our petition matters.
This is why residents in Washington County cannot be kept in the dark about what’s happening in our backyard.

Demand transparency. Demand answers. Share this post.

Together, we keep the pressure on - and we won’t let this be swept under the rug.
