Dear Supporters, 

First of all, we want to thank you all for your participation in this matter.
On the 4th of May, we will close this petition: So, share it to the people that you didn't share it to yet! 

After the 4th, it is time to take the next step: handing them over to the Rector of UGent, Professor De Sutter. 
We contacted her office to plan the meeting, and hope for a dialogue in this topic. 

Following, we share an excerpt of the Email to Prof. De Sutter. 

„Dear Professor Rector Petra de Sutter,

We, a collective of social science students, are responsible for the petition "Stop the hiring of Nathan Cofnas at Ghent University."

As a group of people with backgrounds from all over the globe, we felt we must follow in the footsteps of the Cambridge University students, who ran a similar petition in 2024 calling for Cofnas‘ departure and succeeded.

  In only a few weeks, we have raised over 2000 signatures. This is a sign that we are not the only ones seeing the danger in legitimizing "race realism."

Especially taking into consideration Belgium's colonial, blood-drenched history, which was substantiated by pseudoscientific claims, it is our responsibility in this country to uphold the statement "Never Again" and to remember that ethical codes exist for a reason.

We say Never Again to Eugenics! Never Again to Racist Pseudoscience, and Never Again to Belgian Academia Enabling Such Unscientific Disgrace.

We urge you, Professor Rector De Sutter, to use your position to stop this hiring.“
