The Issue

Imagine a young girl, forced to live with the lifeless body of her mother in the dense forests of Wolega, Ethiopia, while desperately waiting for help that never comes. This chilling reality faced by countless Amhara families, offers a glimpse into the systematic genocide that has plagued our community, particularly intensifying over the past three years under the administration of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. We can no longer remain silent as the death toll rises and personal tragedies continue to unfold amidst the chaotic violence.

For over eight years, the Ethiopian government has systematically targeted the Amhara people, particularly those living in regions such as Wolega. The harrowing attack last week alone claimed the lives of more than 400 innocent civilians, making it abundantly clear that urgent intervention is necessary. We call upon international communities, human rights organizations, and ethical leaders worldwide to take immediate action to halt these atrocities.

The systematic extermination of the Amhara people requires more than just condemnation; it demands immediate strategic intervention. We propose that an international investigative body be mandated to independently assess the situation and hold those responsible for the blatant violations of human rights accountable. Additionally, humanitarian corridors must be established to provide essential aid to victims trapped in these conflict zones.

World history has shown us that inaction is complicity. The callous disregard for the lives of Amhara men, women, and children echoes the worst of past global genocides. We must ensure that their cries do not go unheard and that justice prevails in Wolega and beyond.

I urge you to stand with us against this appalling violence. Sign this petition to rally global support in demanding justice for the Amhara people and to pressure those in power to implement the proposed solutions. Let us be the voice that finally silences the echo of suffering in Ethiopia.
