Petition updateSTOP THE FREE RANGE EGG FARCED DAY ON THURSDAY
Nancegollan Action Group
Feb 12, 2018
Having read the Case officers report and recommendation it’s appears the concerns and many valid points and issues raised by the objections from 19,915 petition members, 156 portal objections and members of the local Parishes have been ignored. The threat to our basic human right to have uncontaminated water and clean air to breath appears to be put to one side whilst the benefits of this proposal accrue to one person. Whilst the eggs are removed out of County, Cornwall will be the sole beneficiary of tonnes of manure, hardly a centre of excellence in our opinion. If allowed to proceed ,the egg farce will truly live up to our concerns, Cornwall’s first mega farm egg farm will produce 100,000 eggs per day from unhappy hens, the figures quoted for free ranging hens are contradictory to say the least, this type of food production is unacceptable and vile. We believe the applicants have had sufficient time to produce all the required and requested information and have consistently failed to do so. The members of the Nancegollan Action Group have supplied important information from the start of this process enabling the applicants to rectify various inaccuracies. We have supplied information in a timely manner to enable the applicants to submit their water features survey within 2 working days of receiving the request, all this at our cost. There have been many refusals for free range Egg farms, the biggest bone of contention being close proximity to protected dwellings and landscape affects, not one of these have been so close to the installation boundaries as this proposal, most being 90 to 200 meters away. All the properties around this site share the same boundary, there is no buffer zone, on this basis alone the application should be refused, this is the right decision to make, it is robust in its defence and any appeal or judicial review will fail due to case law. We urged the Council to refuse this application on the 15th Feb to protect the residents of Nancegollan.
