Hello everyone,

As you know, 'Wwoofing' is a movement which started up in England forty years ago.  The movement has been active in France for about twenty years, and the French Association goes back to 2007.  Previously wwoofing in France was managed by  Wwoof Independents in England. 

We thought that the government  had tacitly  accepted the movement's principles, as expressed in the article on the Minister of Agriculture's official site, see (http://agriculture.gouv.fr/generation-wwoofers) and that other official bodies, such as the MSA, were open-minded about it. -  With the  proviso that it were practised in the right spirit, and with a view to transmitting know-how about organics and ecology, as is stipulated in the Wwoof charter.

Several checks have been carried out by institutions, and up to now, none have resulted in a conviction once the facts were clarified. However, a stronger line is now being taken:  the MSA of the Hérault region is chasing a host for back payment of social contributions for undeclared work, when the woofer was only with the host for two weeks!

It's when a wwoofer participates freely in all the aspects of his host's life and work, that he discovers and learns about alternative ways of living, and which are also grounded within an ecological framework.  Equally he joins in with the conversations, meals and leisure time, and it's all these aspects taken together which add up to 'wwoofing'.

We've never needed your support more to help the Wwoofing movement gain its rightful recognition, and that it is  neither  undeclared  work, nor work on the black.  SIGN this petition  (link to be inserted) to send to the
