Dear supporters,

there are terrible news: This morning (12.9) the wrestling champion Navid Afkari was hanged in the prison of the city of Shiraz according to the chief judge of the province of Fars!

International media worldwide and also in Germany report about it today.

Navid Afkari was initially sentenced to 74 lashes, was to spend six and a half years in prison and then to be executed.

The death sentence against Navid had triggered an international wave of protest. Human rights organizations, politicians from various countries, including U.S. President Donald Trump, the International Olympic Committee, the German Olympic Sports Confederation, athletes from Germany, and well-known sportsmen and sportswomen had campaigned for the death sentence to be lifted.

The execution was obviously intended to have a strong media impact in order to have a scaring effect. Navid himself reported in advance that the Islamic regime "is looking for a neck around which they can put their sling".

This execution leaves one speechless and infinitely sad.Now we have to fight all the more for the remaining prisoners - also for Navid's brothers.

Recently, Amnesty International has published a comprehensive report on the Islamic regime's horrific torture methods and practices against the political prisoners and demonstrators of the November 2019 protests.

The topic is increasingly being taken up by the media and we can only help through pressure to keep it up and to ensure that politicians also stand up for the political prisoners in Iran.
