Why This Matters

   •   Weak Penalties for Abusers: Many individuals who abuse and kill animals receive only minimal fines and little to no punishment. This is unacceptable.

   •   Kill Shelters Must End: Shelters euthanizing animals due to space constraints is nothing short of murder. Innocent animals should not be killed simply because they haven’t been adopted within an arbitrary timeframe.

   •   A Federal Law is Needed: While the PACT Act was a step forward, there remains a gap in federal protection for companion animals. Stronger penalties and stricter enforcement must be implemented.
