Sadly, it has become evident that the encryption of the Virginia State Police was not the only agency that has been shuttered from the public. We have independently confirmed that all State Agencies in the Commonwealth are now being encrypted. 

This being an unprecedented move and the first statewide radio system in the nation to fully encrypt every single transmission of all users on a radio network, statewide.

As of this update the last remaining user, SSP or the State Safety Patrol operated by the Virginia Department of Transportation is finalizing the encryption reprogramming with Northern Virginia Units making the transition this morning. Locally, many radios used by SSP have already been logged as encrypted and the amount of transmission is significantly lower.

The above are some of the major users of the system we have been able to confirm that have switched to encrypted communications. 

We will continue the fight and express the concern that the complete blackout of radio communications transparency is not only a show of power but a complete show of authoritarian control and end of transparency.
