We have more than 2200 signatures for the petition. And the list is growing. Here’s an update. When is a hotel room a housing unit and a housing unit a hotel room? According to the city, the Turquoise Tower developer wants to call the 139 proposed luxury hotel units both visitor (hotel) accomodations and long-term housing units (apartments/condos) – depending on what suits it’s needs at the time. Sound confusing? Well, it is. It’s double speak. The developer wants to count these units twice to bump up the allowable density of the project as much as it can. Fortunately, the city Development Service Department is holding the developer’s feet to the fire. The department has told the developer it cannot count these units twice. DSD has told the developer to make changes and resubmit its plans. If you haven’t already, please sign the petition and pass it along to others. Let’s let them know how we feel about this outrageous monstrosity being built in our community
