The Great War memorial inside the town hall, deeply embedded into its wall, is inextricably linked to the Grade 2 listed cenotaph which stands proud in the centre of the square: it was private donations following the Great War which paid for the cenotaph and there is a plaque on the Cenotaph directing people across to the town hall where they can pay their respects to those Fenton men who fell in service of their country. Honour - Courage - Sacrifice. To desecrate the Great War memorial is to desecrate the Cenotaph.
