Last week, my partner Marcus and his fellow protester Morgan appealed their sentences. They argued that 2 years and 7 months and 3 years in prison, respectively, are unprecedented and grotesque punishments for their peaceful, selfless protest against the climate crisis.
Yesterday, the appeal judges decided that they disagreed. They decided that these prison sentences reflect "Parliament's will" as per the new Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act.
For a few hours, I thought yesterday could be the day when Marcus and I would be reunited. Marcus's chances of staying in this country could have been improved substantially. Instead, there is still no end in sight for this nightmare.
But we won't give up. Marcus still has a chance of staying in this country. However, he will need the support of a professional legal team which could cost up to £50,000. With Marcus in prison and me looking after the kids and supporting him, there is no way we can afford this on our own.
Can you chip in and help us pay for lawyers for Marcus?
