When this movement began, the goal was simple: make sure Pittsburg residents had a voice in decisions that affect our homes, neighborhoods, and future, i.e to stop Pittsburg's AVAIO Data Center!!!
Today, I want to share an important update. After everything we have experienced throughout this process, I have decided to run for Pittsburg City Council in November as a candidate for one of the three seats on the ballot. The response to this movement has shown me just how much people care about what happens in our city. With more than 27,000 people signing this petition, I am incredibly grateful for everyone who has spoken up, shared information, attended meetings, protested, talked with neighbors, or simply taken the time to learn more.
For me, running for Council is about taking the next step: having a seat at the table and making sure everyday residents have a voice at City Hall. I am not a career politician, and I am not running because I have a long list of political endorsements. I have spent this campaign meeting with everyday people in their homes, schools, businesses, and throughout our community, listening to what matters to them.
I believe we can rebuild trust through better communication and a City Hall that listens and acts on requests from the people it represents.
The data center issue is still an important part of why I stepped forward, but this campaign is about more than one project. It is about how decisions are made, how residents are informed, and whether everyday people feel heard in their own city.
