We are standing up and standing beside Chef Carmen Atl and her partner Tanaesa, an African American, LGBT couple who have been specifically targeted with hate, public humiliation, shame, and slander simply for wanting to be together.
They have been dealing with cyberstalking, cyberbullying, and cyberharassment on many social media platforms to the detriment of their character and livelihood. Their large group of online supporters have collectively reported several hate pages to meta/Facebook many times with no avail.
Their policy states that they do not allow cyberstalking, cyberbullying, or cyberharassment and it is prohibited, but that is EXACTLY what is happening to these two beautiful women, the response from meta/Facebook is that the pages must degrade one’s appearance/character or if they are targeting someone with threats to be considered harassment or bullying on their platform, but this is EXACTLY what they are continuing to allow!!! This cyberbullying has been happening for 6 months and as a result, the couple has been publicly defeated as their emotional wellbeing is at stake.
We feel that influencers who create platforms of hate and slander are encouraged by the financial compensation that these platforms provide as an incentive for gaining a large following!
Bottom line, these creators are making a profit to detriment of their target and filing income tax on that mad money!! There should be more scrutiny into the type of content these platforms provide before considering them for monetization.
Ultimately, It’s imperative that Meta enforce their non-tolerance policy of cyberbullying in effort in creating a safe space for people to create and exist together without fear of being singled out and brutally attacked as these two women amongst many others have.
Please sign our petition to stop this online harassment!!!
