Deadline Extended: Request to Contact Legislators

Hi all,

For those of you who are working with us to stop the  closure of NARA Chicago and San Bruno, we have an update and some helpful information to make it quicker and easier for you to make these phone calls.

• The deadline for congress members to sign  Rep. Chuy Garcia’s letter has been moved to Wednesday, 9/16. So there is time for all of us to make more calls. This letter is specific to the NARA Chicago/Great Lakes facility.
• As of yesterday, seven congress members have signed on. Not bad for this message going out over the long weekend. Our goal is to get at least another 30 signatures.
• Your calls matter! Find your legislators contact info here:  https://www.congress.gov/members/find-your-member (Citizens from WI, MN, IN, IL, OH and MI, we really need you!)
• Here is a one-pager that explains exactly what you can say to those reps you call or email.
• Finally, and this is an extra ask, we’d like to start tracking who you all are calling and what responses they give you. If you have any extra time, could you please take a couple of minutes after your calls and fill out this quick form. (Please don’t let this ask stop you from making calls. If you don’t have the time, we’re fine if you just make calls and don’t fill out the form.)
