Dear Petition Supporters,
Thank you so much for signing our petition and standing with us to keep public education strong in Anchorage. Much has been done to keep Campbell STEM Elementary School open since the school board vote in February.
Here’s what’s happening:
- The Taku-Campbell Community Council passed a resolution urging the district and the Assembly to keep Campbell STEM open.
- The Anchorage Assembly only narrowly passed the city budget, 7–5, on a bipartisan basis.
The Mayor is meeting with community representatives on Monday to hear more about keeping Campbell STEM open. - With rising oil prices due to the conflict in the Middle East, legislators are already considering allocating up to $44 million to the Anchorage School District.
While this is encouraging progress, our work isn’t done. We still need the school board to reverse the closure and stop plans to transfer staff and students to other schools.
Please visit savecampbellstem.org to sign up for updates and find ways you can continue to help. Every voice counts!
Additionally, please join us on Monday, April 6th, for the school board meeting where we will again make the case for why Campbell STEM needs to remain open.
Thank you again for your support. together, we can keep Campbell STEM thriving!
